PEACE

World Peace Prayer

Lead me from death to life, from falsehood to truth

Lead me from despair to hope, from fear to trust

Lead me from hate to love, from war to peace

Let peace fill our heart, our world, our universe

Radiant Cooling

I've been reading a lot about radiant cooling lately.
As it turns out, water pipes run through the ceiling with 63 degree water running constantly through them will draw about 25 btuh per square foot out of a room.
More importantly though, the comfort level can be very good at over 75 degrees air temperature with the ceiling constantly pulling radiant heat off of our bodies. Coupled with a ceiling fan this can provide a very comfortable cool summer environment with very little energy loss.
Given that the ground is a constant 55 degrees, I am looking into running some water pipes underground as a heat dump for a radiant cooling system.
I was also looking into using my cisterns as heat dump. If I insulate the top of the cistern from the sun during the day and circulate the water over the roof at night, I should be able to bring the cisterns down below 40 degrees. This would be a big trade off because of the evaporation losses from the sky radiant cooling, but interesting none the less.

Nuff fer now, This would be more fun if other people blogged too

Happy Father's Day R. Harvey

Happy Father's Day Dad!!!

My life is in flux right now, but all of the things that you taught me prepared me well to adapt. I'm finding all of the practice I had as a kid with plumbing, electric, and basic carpentry very helpful. Mostly though, having tried so many many things has given me the confidence to try almost anything.

I started a Computer Assisted Drafting class on Friday. It is interesting that many of my classmates are experienced drafters and are having a much more difficult time with the syntax. I guess that I already think of geometric shapes as physical representations of mathematical equations so it makes sense to me.

I hope that all is well with all of you.
